Default My New Experiment

So. I rolled a PvE Mesmer in Prophecies. I wanted to squeeze in maybe at least one more run through the entire campaign of Prophecies. I'm NOT going anywhere else besides Prophecies as long as I can possibly can bear before I end up going to Fac/NF/EoTN. Since she's Level 7 with 0 Deaths thus far, it got me thinking.

How far do YOU think I can go to get Legendary Survivor (that's 1,337,500 Experience) by forcing myself to stay in JUST Prophecies?

How many people do this in JUST Prophecies today? let alone, with a Mesmer.....in Prophecies.

Is it worth the prestige in the end by doing it in the slowest campaign available to Guild Wars players?

What do you guys think?

Back when I made my Warrior (In July 2006) it was 13 Months LATER of casual play before I noticed I had just reached 1,000,000 EXP, but I had died a lot so obviously no Survivor, lol.

How can I justify getting 1,337,500 in less than that time in one campaign?

No way to show you got it only from prophecies. I think its just a waste of time to be honest.

Well.. I guess you could get to Legendary Survivor in prophecies then show all the quests to go to other campaigns uncompleted in quest log along with a /age all in a screenshot.

If you think that the warm-fuzzies you'll get from doing it, then go for it. But be aware that it'll be something you won't really be able to show off, and playing through the story and doing all the side quests will leave you very short of the XP required, so you'll have to do some skill capping & possibly a few vanquishes (unless you repeat stuff in NM) to get to LS.

Nobody will care. There won't be anyway to display how you got it, and strangers won't believe you if you tell them. It is a personal goal, so asking us what we think is pointless. If you want to, then do so. Just don't bother wasting time bragging about it as nobody will care outside of close personal friends, and they may not care either. My Paragon got Legendary Survivor without having access to Eye of the North (wasn't released yet) and not using any 'cheats'. I played normally in all 3 campaigns, got as far as Gate of Madness in NF, Unwaking Waters in Factions, and Hells in Prophecies. I was proud that I didn't ask for runs, pay for runs, or have used any of the 'cheats'. However, I don't spend time showing it off or bragging about it (besides this post) because nobody cares.

Meh, I would just do brawling.

Personally i've had too many grievances with my connection for doing survivor without brawling so I'b a bit biased (32k away on my ranger...thanks vizunah.)

Go for it if you want to, just understand that the title is so watered down that people don't really care anymore.

It reminds me of the scenario when all of my friends would use 99-xx rare candies to lvl thier Pokemon to 100 while I actually took the time to train them the real way. Haha....hey....if you really want to do it, I'd say GO FOR IT.

Screen shots in LA showing you havent been to Factions,NF,EoTN. G/L if you decide to go through with it, personal challenge ftw.

i've done something similar, except i did a completely run through of every mission in every campaign and EotN on my mesmer. i think i reached survivor two by the end of the run through. probably could have gotten legendary survivor eventually, except for a rather unfortunate close encounter with molotov rocktail.

Forget all the people who say this is foolish. Personal integrity seems to have left the people who say your way is foolish or retarded. Do it. Personal satisfaction is all that matters, not who you can brag to. I, for one, admire your willingness to take on the task.

I have a R2 Survivor with 960k in XP. Now I didn't limit myself to just one campaign, but have not done the Dwarf boxing thing nor have I gotten anyone to level me. I did it the old-fashioned way...I ground it out XP by XP point by point. I started using scrolls (Thanks to Angel Gift for hundreds of those) after I made it to R2. I am proud of myself because I didn't do it for anyone but me. Get some XP scrolls and grind it out.

I applaud your integrity and tenacity.

I wouldn't be trying it if I thought it was retarded. Thanks for your opinion though. Now I have one: I wouldn't waste time posting on my thread when you have absolutely no taste what an original idea is. I bet you have never done anything original in your life in GW the way you just blatantly called that retarted, lmao. Crtl+C + Crtl+V base64 skill codes into a skill template window all day long for your UWSC.

Oops got a little carried away there... wait for a mod to delete this and give me yet another 3 point infraction/ban on my account for being the on who is right yet again.

On topic:

Anyways, I only meant for this to be a personal sorta goal that me and maybe a couple friends could view as "cool" I don't know. I was never planning on flaunting it to everyone, just to see if it could be done. And If I were to achieve it then I would (to myself) just feel like I achieved something that no one takes the time to do anymore (Survivor in Prophecies only) and to me that would be something cool. The game is running out of original things, and original people. And I want to be someone left who does something original.

At least someone here sees the value behind my idea. I thank you very much for your kind words.

Firstly, you solicited opinions about this undertaking that you were considering... don't flame people and resort to personal insults just because you don't like their opinion. You asked if it was worth doing, if you could justify it... clearly not everyone is going to agree with what you think the answer should be.

As for the mods banning you for being right, that doesn't happen, they ban you for being an asshole, it doesn't matter if you're right or not. I have some personal experience on this one...

As for it being some personal goal, that you would never flaunt... that's great, we all have done some stupid, retarded things in game as 'personal goals' just to see if we had the will, the endurance, the determination or skill to achieve them. I actually think LDoA is an example of a stupid exercise in endurance and stubbornness that many, many people have done, other people get more creative in creating their own 'goals'.

Still, if it was just a personal goal that you didn't want to flaunt or gain prestige from, then you wouldn't have posed the question on a forum in the first place now would you? You would have just done it, no need to ask for other peoples APPROVAL, no need to get upset when people disapproved of your idea, no need to mention "Is it worth the prestige in the end by doing it in the slowest campaign available to Guild Wars players?".

Prestige, but not flaunting it? I see...

Go do it if you want to, yes it's a waste of time, but it's your time to waste... if it makes you enjoy the game, that's all great, have fun... there is no prestige in it, however.

Getting millions of exp even with a mesmer in just prophecies is not especially long and hard when you go SOLOFARMING some easy dumb lv20++ mobs. Even using only Prophecies skills it's possible to make some 55hp Me/Mo to wtfpwn some minotaurs or trolls or undead. 1 Mil xp is a matter of a couple days then.

By a couple days, how long would you justify I'd be spending per session of GW? It'd seem like a lot and I'm more of a casual kinda guy. But I do like your Idea.

My Idea when I actually made the Mesmer was to play prophecies normally, the old fashioned way. I already played all the campaigns and played for nearly 4 years now. I just wanna hit it up with laid back stuff at least one last time.

I then got the silly idea to try and see how long I can last in prophecies without deaths. So it'll still be a while till 20 (as I am playing the slowest game in GW normally), But when I do hit 20 I might just try something like your idea. That is of course if i didn't die along the way. If I do...oh well...she never was originally intended to be an L.Survivor, just was a possibility along the path if I had simply avoided death.

Bad idea imo... At least find something fun to waste time on^__^
Make your survivor in 7-10 hours, then go on to something else =)
